Trim Levels

The G70 is only available in two trim levels, but it still offers plenty of customization options through available packages. The base 2.0T trim is well-equipped with a generous slate of standard features and outstanding attributes. The cabin's comfort is unmatched, with heated and cooled 8-way power-adjustable driver and passenger seats, a split-folding rear seatback, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, push-button ignition, and automatic climate control. It also comes with an excellent entertainment/information system, which is controlled via an 8-inch touchscreen and integrates hands-free smartphone integration, USB and auxiliary ports, and a six-speaker audio system. Other standard features include heated mirrors with integrated turn signals, hands-free entry, and automatic dusk-sensing headlamps. In addition to a larger engine, the 3.3T adds self-leveling LED headlights, a wide sunroof, alloy sport pedals, an integrated navigation system, and a Lexicon 15-speaker audio system with Quantum Logic Surround & Clari-Fi Music Restoration Technology.

Mechanical Features

The base G70 comes standard with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine (252 horsepower and 260 lb.-ft. of torque) paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission with Shiftronic paddle shifters. You can also opt for a 6-speed manual transmission, rather than the automatic, but these stickshift models are strictly rear-wheel drive, whereas models with the automatic transmission are available with AWD. In a reversal of the usual arrangement, where the manual transmission version is more basic, in the G70's case it's an upgrade ($3,005) from the automatic, adding more standard features for performance.

The 3.3T trim gets a much more powerful 3.3-liter twin-turbo V6 paired to the same eight-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters. This V6 engine puts out a remarkable 365 horsepower and 376 lb.-ft. of torque. It's also available in either a RWD or AWD configuration, but the manual transmission is not offered.

Safety and Technology

Although it hasn't yet been rated in government safety testing, the 2020 G70 should reflect the previous model's impressive reputation for safety. The 2019 G70 was deemed a 2019 Top Safety Pick+ by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) for its exceptional crashworthiness. Standard driver-assist features on all 2020 G70 models include a blind spot collision warning system with rear cross-traffic alert, lane keeping assist, forward collision-avoidance assist with pedestrian detection, smart cruise control with stop & go, high beam assist, driver attention warning, and a rear-vision camera. Just as importantly, the G70 is intelligently designed with an advanced airbag system and solid-body construction to provide optimal protection in the event of a collision.
