The 2020 Genesis G90 is the perfect large luxury sedan for those with refined taste who favor elegant but affordable style over a European nameplate. It continues its debut generation, which began in 2017, with updated styling plus new connectivity and driver-assist technology. Genesis offers it in two trim levels: the 3.3T Premium and the 5.0 Ultimate.

Mechanical Features

The 2020 G90 comes standard with a turbocharged 3.3-liter V6 engine that delivers 365 horsepower and 376 lb.-ft. of torque. There's also an available 5.0-liter V8 engine that puts out 420 horsepower and 383 lb.-ft. of torque. Both engines are paired to an 8-speed automatic transmission with SHIFTRONIC technology and steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters. All-wheel drive is available with either engine, and rear-wheel drive is standard. Drivers can switch among multiple drive modes: Eco for fuel conservation, Normal for a classic driving experience, Sport for increased throttle response and dynamic driving, and Snow mode for low-traction road conditions.

Interior Comfort and Amenities

Passenger comfort was clearly a top priority for the Genesis engineers, as all 2020 G90 models come standard with quilted leather seating, luxurious front seats with 22-way adjustments, and power-adjustable rear outboard seats. If you input your weight and height, the car's computer will even calculate the best seating position for you. The Ultimate model even adds cooling and massage functions for the rear seats. The right-side rear seat also has an extendable footrest that can be activated when the front passenger seat is moved forward.

This exceptional full-sized sedan was designed with optimal sound insulation to keep the cabin peaceful and quiet. Other noteworthy features include a power tilt-and-slide sunroof, power rear side window and rear sunshades, a hands-free smart trunk with auto-open, ambient interior light, and puddle/approach lamps.

Tech and Safety

Genesis made sure that the 2020 G90's entertainment/information system is packed with state-of-the-art features that buyers in this segment have come to expect. It gets a generous 12.3-inch multimedia touchscreen display with navigation, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay. All models also come standard with a head-up display, wireless phone charging, and a 17-speaker Lexicon audio system.

The 2019 Genesis G90 received a Top Safety Pick+ designation from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), the institute's highest accolade for crashworthiness and overall safety, and the 2020 Genesis G90 is expected to perform similarly. It's loaded with standard active safety technologies, including automatic high beams, adaptive cruise control, smart blind-spot detection, automatic emergency braking, lane keeping assist, and driver attention alert. After you park, there is Safe Exit Assist technology that will alert you and prevent rear doors from opening if any traffic or cyclists are approaching on the road side of the vehicle.
