2027 Genesis GV70 Review: Specs, Trims, Safety Ratings, and Pricing

The Genesis GV70 arrived for 2022 as the brand's compact luxury SUV, and a 2026 refresh gave it a new face and a 27-inch OLED display. For 2027 the formula holds steady with two notable changes. A new 3.5T Prestige Graphite trim takes over the top of the lineup with smoked-chrome accents, red brake calipers, carbon fiber cabin trim, and Ultramarine Blue Nappa leather with suede inserts. Wireless phone charging also becomes standard on every trim.
The GV70 is aimed at the BMW X3, Audi Q5, and Mercedes-Benz GLC, and it also draws shoppers away from the Lexus NX, Acura RDX, and Volvo XC60. Six trims run from $49,350 to $71,700 before the $1,545 destination charge, and every one of them includes all-wheel drive. That standard traction is one reason the GV70 does well with buyers from Concord to Danvers, where a December commute can start on dry pavement and end on slush. Current stock is listed in our new Genesis inventory.
Engineering and performance
Two turbocharged engines
The standard engine is a 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 300 horsepower and 311 lb-ft of torque. The 3.5T Sport Prestige and Prestige Graphite step up to a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 rated at 375 horsepower and 391 lb-ft. Both pair with an eight-speed automatic and AWD, and both recommend premium fuel. There is no front-wheel-drive GV70.
The four-cylinder is strong enough that most buyers never feel short-changed. The V6 adds a surge of midrange power, and it comes with hardware the 2.5T does not get: electronically controlled suspension with Road Preview, which reads the pavement ahead through the front camera and firms or softens the dampers before a bump arrives, and an electronic limited-slip rear differential that shifts torque between the rear wheels in corners and on slick surfaces.
Fuel economy
Most 2.5T trims are EPA-rated at 20 mpg city and 28 highway. The 2.5T Sport Prestige, on 21-inch wheels, comes in at 20 and 26. The V6 trims are rated at 18 city and 25 highway. Those are typical figures for a turbocharged luxury SUV this size, though the premium-fuel recommendation nudges running costs up.
Towing and all-weather driving
Properly equipped, either engine tows up to 3,500 pounds. Terrain Mode adjusts the AWD system and throttle for snow, mud, or sand, which turns an unplowed driveway or a muddy boat ramp into a non-event. Ground clearance is 7.3 inches, enough for rough roads but not a trail vehicle.
Safety ratings and driver assistance
Crash-test results
The 2026 GV70 earned a five-star overall rating from NHTSA and the IIHS Top Safety Pick+ award. NHTSA's breakdown gives it five stars for side impact, four for frontal crash, and four for rollover. The 2027 model shares that structure, so the 2026 results are the most current independent benchmark. Eight airbags, including a front center airbag between the front seats, are standard.
Standard and available driver aids
Every GV70 includes Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist with evasive steering, Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist, Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist, Smart Cruise Control, Lane Following Assist, Driver Attention Warning, rear parking sensors, and high beam assist.
The Advanced trim adds a Surround View Monitor, a Blind-Spot View Monitor that shows a camera feed in the cluster when you signal, front and side parking sensors, and Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist. The Sport Prestige trims and above gain Highway Driving Assist 2, which keeps the SUV centered and can change lanes when you tap the signal, along with Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist 2. Drivers in Nashua, who spend more time in stop-and-go turnpike traffic than most, will get daily use out of the full suite.
Technology and infotainment
The 27-inch OLED display

One curved panel stretches from behind the steering wheel to the center of the dash. The left half is the gauge cluster and the right half is the infotainment touchscreen, which also responds to a rotary dial on the console so you can skip fingerprints. Climate controls live on a separate touch panel lower on the dash. It looks clean, but some functions sit a menu deep, and that takes a little getting used to.
Wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless Android Auto, SiriusXM, HD Radio, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and fingerprint authentication for driver profiles are standard. So are four USB ports, two 12-volt outlets, and, new for 2027, the wireless charging pad. A household AC outlet joins at the Sport Prestige level.
Audio, head-up display, and digital key
The Advanced trim and above swap the base audio for a 16-speaker Bang & Olufsen system with stainless-steel grilles. The Sport Prestige trims add a 12-inch head-up display, which projects speed, navigation turns, and safety alerts onto the windshield, plus Genesis Digital Key 2 so a phone or watch can unlock and start the SUV. For 2027 the 2.5T Sport Prestige also picks up a standard heated steering wheel.

Interior design and passenger space
Seating and materials
Upholstery steps from leatherette on the 2.5T and Select, to leather on Advanced and 2.5T Sport Prestige, to Nappa leather on both V6 trims. Heated power front seats and adjustable ambient lighting are standard everywhere. Ventilated front seats start at Advanced, and the 3.5T trims add heated outboard rear seats and a microfiber suede headliner. The Sport Prestige trims include an Ergo Motion driver seat with air cells that gently stretch your lower back on long drives.
Interior colors include Obsidian Black, Vanilla Beige, Sevilla Red, Havana Brown, and Frozen Gray with Urban Brown. The Prestige Graphite's Ultramarine Blue Nappa with suede inserts and embossed headrest logos is exclusive to that trim.
Room and cargo
Rear passengers get 37.2 inches of legroom and 39.1 inches of headroom, which is competitive if not class-leading. Cargo volume is 28.9 cubic feet behind the second row and 56.9 with the 60/40 seats folded flat. The liftover height is low, so heavy loads go in without a lift. A BMW X3 or Volvo XC60 holds more with the seats down, so if hauling bulk is your top priority, measure both. For a Bedford family running school gear and weekend groceries, the space is more than enough.
Exterior design
The GV70 measures 185.6 inches long on a 113.2-inch wheelbase, 75.2 inches wide, and 64.2 inches tall. The long hood, Crest Grille, and split Two-Line headlamps give it a presence that reads bigger than its footprint. Wheels are 19 inches on the 2.5T, Select, and Advanced, with a new design available on Select and Advanced for 2027, and 21-inch sport alloys on the Sport Prestige and Prestige Graphite.
Two paint colors are new. Bering Blue is offered on the Sport Prestige trims, and Ceres Blue Matte is exclusive to the Prestige Graphite, which also comes in Makalu Gray and Uyuni White. Capri Blue, Mauna Red, and Makalu Gray Matte are gone. The Prestige Graphite trades bright chrome for smoked chrome and adds gloss-black mirror caps and dark 21-inch wheels. Side steps and roof crossbars are available accessories.
Trim levels and features
Six trims, all with AWD. The 3.5T Sport Advanced was dropped for 2027, so the V6 now comes only in Sport Prestige and Prestige Graphite form. The table lists standard equipment for each.

Warranty and ownership
Genesis backs the GV70 with a 5-year/60,000-mile basic warranty, a 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty, 3 years or 36,000 miles of complimentary scheduled maintenance, and complimentary roadside assistance. First owners also receive Genesis Connected Services, which includes remote functions and stolen vehicle recovery. That coverage runs longer than most German rivals offer.
Fuel is the main ongoing cost difference between engines. Both recommend premium, and the V6's 18 mpg city rating means a higher annual fuel bill than the four-cylinder for a driver who stays mostly in town, such as a Manchester commuter whose daily loop rarely leaves city limits.
